Here’s the perfect example of the ‘ordinary little square shots’ I was talking about in the previous post.
A lot of effort and hard work in the field to find some compositional order within the chaos of the forest (far more cluttered than it appears here)… only to end up with a pleasing shot that is, all things considered, rather ordinary.

Definitely not satisfied with the ‘ordinary little square shots’ that are easily obtainable in the woods using a medium telephoto lens, I tried to ‘dare’ a more elaborate and personal approach, which cost me several leg cramps because of the awkward position I had to assume in order to frame and take the shot.
This image was created using the focus stacking technique (4 shots), allowing me to keep both the flowers in the extreme foreground and the trees in the background in sharp focus.

I spent three days in the beautiful beech and oak forests of the Wienerwald, near Vienna, during the peak of the wild garlic bloom.
Unfortunately, the weather gave me extremely harsh light and an almost complete absence of clouds to diffuse it, so I ended up shooting only when the sun was low, just before sunset.
By the end of each day, my clothes were so saturated with the scent of the blossoms that I felt like some kind of walking garlic bread.
