Many years have passed since I first fell in love with this old and twisted beech tree along the Dardagna creek. This year I was finally able to find the right conditions to capture its strength and beauty.

In the middle of the creek, with strong winds shooting water splashes at me from the bottom and with downpours coming from the top, I can’t say it was relaxing trying to take this picture: water drops on the lens and on the camera, constantly moving branches and leaves, camera movements always lurking.
An hour-and-a-half-long struggle to find the right composition and the right moment.
But I think it was worth it in the end.

This is the scenario with which Söderåsen National Park welcomed me last week.
A place that will stay in my heart for its intimate and delicate beauty.

Among fraught clouds and scattered showers of rain, the sunlight, capable of filtering through thinner clouds, kissed a hill in the midst of its splendid foliage in Lessinia.

This autumn, too hot, follows a dry and torrid summer here in Italy.
I think it is for this reason that the leaves of the beech trees are gradually drying up without first showing off their warm colors, going directly from green to brown and covering the undergrowth with a creaking mantle whose color contrasts with the fresh leaves still hanging from the branches.

P.S.: it seems that I can no longer photograph woods without using two or more overlapping exposures.

Lost in a birch forest near Grövelsjön, close to the border between Sweden and Norway, I came across this sequence of rotting trunks lying on their deathbed made of blueberries, watched over by younger trees like silent relatives gathered in prayer. Suddently, some twisted roots grabbed my gaze like a cold arthritic hand, and dragged me into a visual path through the history of that little corner of paradise.

Wandering around Grövelsjön, near the border between Sweden and Norway, I saw this isolated birch from afar, located near a wetland with spots of cottongrass. As I approached, I was fascinated by its elegance, grace and beauty.
