I’ve returned to Col Margherita after a long and much-missed absence from the mountains I love, in the (vain) hope of finding the perfect combination of warm sunset light and a dramatic sky.
What I actually found were temperatures of –10°C and a biting wind that forced me to wear two padded jackets just to avoid freezing.
The lovely glow of the sun’s final rays, I believe, partly makes up for the complete lack of drama in the sky, and the resulting panoramic shot is, at least to my eyes, rather pleasing.
